I just find it hilarious that even after almost a decade of cosplaying and having access to some professional materials now thanks to the internet, my main prop-making component of choice still ends up being frickin cardboard

It's easy to find (just walk to your closest trash shed), pretty much free and if you end up hating your prop years later after completing it, it's also easy to recycle again. I'd say it's a win-win
